We had planned to go to the Vatican and St. Peters but when we got there it was closed. Amazing but true. There were many people standing around wondering what was going on - the next day we found out they had promoted a few people to Sainthood. We, alas, were not on the list....

If we can't get into the Christian sites, we'll go to the Pagan ones. We returned to the Coliseum to go inside this time. The lines were long but it was well worth it to see all this, to walk around trying to picture whose footsteps we were walking in this time:
